There is something magical about gathering around a table.
Good food in the middle. Music playing. Candles lit. Friends lingering long after dinner is finished. Stories get told, glasses get refilled, everyone relaxes a little - and somehow the best conversations always seem to happen around the table.
We think we could all use a little more of that.
At Tuesday Foods, we have always believed that food is so much more than fuel. Cooking for someone is one of the simplest and most beautiful ways to say I love you.
And sharing that food may be even better.
Some of our favorite memories are built around meals - holiday tables, family recipes, dinner with old friends, spontaneous nights when someone stays for one more glass of wine. The food brings us together, but it's the connection that makes the evening memorable.
In a world where so much of our communication happens on the phone and everyone seems to be moving at full speed, sitting down together feels more meaningful than ever.
So let's bring back the dinner party.
Maybe part of the reason we've stopped having people over is that entertaining started to feel like another thing we needed to get right.
Forget the elaborate table settings. Forget making six complicated dishes. Your house doesn't need to be spotless and everything doesn't need to be homemade.
The best dinner parties feel relaxed.
Choose a few delicious things you can prepare ahead of time. Put everything in the middle of the table and serve it family-style. Ask someone to bring wine. Let someone else bring dessert. Turn on a great playlist, light a few candles and enjoy your own party.
Because if you're relaxed, your guests will be too.
We love a menu that's colorful, seasonal and abundant without requiring you to spend the entire evening in the kitchen.
Here's our formula for an easy dinner party:
Put it out before anyone arrives so there's something delicious waiting when your guests walk through the door.
Lots of color, texture, fresh herbs and a really good dressing.
Something wonderful for the middle of the table
Choose a main dish that can be made mostly ahead of time and served family-style. No last-minute plating required.
It doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes a really good cookie, a simple fruit crisp or a few squares of dark chocolate are exactly right.
Add some crusty bread, sparkling water and a bottle or two of wine, and dinner is served.
Don't wait until you have the perfect menu, the perfect house or a free Saturday with nothing else going on.
Invite the neighbors. Call the friends you keep saying you need to see. Mix people who don't already know one another. Pull another chair up to the table.
Cook something you love and share it.
Because gathering around a table isn't really about entertaining. It's about creating a little space in our busy lives to be together—to eat, talk, laugh, connect and take care of one another.
And to us, that's what food has always been about.
Food is love. Pass it around.
